Welcome to the FES Guidance and Counseling page!  Mrs. Haslam and Mrs. Rice are here to help your child have a successful year in their academic, personal, social and career development.  Our goal is to teach them skills that will develop their positive sense of self as a student, friend, family member and citizen.  Mrs. Haslam is also the Building Test Coordinator and staff sponsor of First Priority and Mrs. Rice is FES 504 Designee and the Red Ribbon Week coordinator.

Classroom guidance classes are taught to all FES students in thirty minute sessions every other week.  Topics include self-esteem, conflict resolution, career exploration, self-control, listening skills and friendship building.

Individual students can be referred to us for small group counseling, both by teachers and parents. We teach students skills and information to help them with:

  • classroom behavior
  • social skills
  • anger management
  • motivation
  • family transitions such as divorce, foster care placement, death of family member, military deployment
  • self-esteem

Thank you for your support in our mutual goal of equipping students to be capable, confident and successful, both personally and academically!
