Catherine Rice, K-2 School Counselor
Welcome! My name is Catherine Rice. This is my first year to serve as a Professional School Counselor. Prior to becoming the K-2 School Counselor at Fultondale Elementary I worked in education in the field of prevention writing grants and coordinating programs for 19 years. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from Samford University, a Masters Degree in Education in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Montevallo, and 21 hrs post-Masters for certification in School Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
I am a National Certified Counselor and also a licensed Social Worker in the State of Alabama.
I have three amazing children - a son who is a sophomore in college, a daughter who is a junior in high school, and a son who is a second grader. Besides spending time with my children and being involved in their activities, I enjoy travelng and my new-found passion, road and mountain biking.
I love being a school counselor!! It's exciting being a part of the beginning of our students' academic careers. I enjoy getting to know the students and helping them problem-solve and develop skills and strategies for living life in a happy, healthy, and integrity-focused way. Working with these children and their families is a privilege and I am so thankful for opportunities to partner with their educators and parents.
If I can ever be of any help to you and your child please let me know.
Let's have a great year at FES!!
